Canadiens’ defensemen fuel offense with clutch goals in tight wins

Montreal Canadiens defensemen have stepped up their offensive game in recent matches. Their contributions were clear in Tuesday’s win over the Minnesota Wild, where they accounted for half the team’s goals. The players now prepare for Thursday’s clash against the Buffalo Sabres at the Bell Centre.

The Canadiens’ 4-3 victory against Minnesota saw the defense make a major impact. Two of the four goals came from the blue line, both proving decisive in shifting the momentum. Alexandre Carrier scored one of them, later crediting the forwards for their presence in front of the net.

Carrier also expressed pride in the defensemen’s growing offensive role. He noted how their efforts have directly helped secure recent wins. Forward Juraj Slafkovsky echoed this, stating that the defensemen’s contributions have given the team a significant boost.

Five defensemen—Carrier, Mike Matheson, Kaiden Guhle, David Savard, and Arber Xhekaj—have all chipped in offensively lately. Their improved output comes ahead of Thursday’s game, which doubles as the annual Mascot Party at the Bell Centre. The team held a practice session at the CN Sports Complex on Wednesday morning to fine-tune their play.

The Canadiens’ defensemen have become a key part of the attack, delivering crucial goals in tight matches. Their performance against Minnesota highlights this shift, with both go-ahead strikes coming from the back end. Fans will watch closely to see if this trend continues when Buffalo visits on Thursday night.
