Ya Boy Carney Steps Up as Canadian Preemo
- Canadian politician Carney takes oath as the nation's new Prime Minister.
Alright, here's the lowdown. Carney, the newly-crowned boss of the Liberal Party, recently assumed the throne vacated by Trudeau. Prior to this gig, he held down the fort as the governor of the Bank of Canada, and later squeezed his way into the Bank of England's executive suite as the first foreign governator. Lately, he's been representations for the UN on climate action finance.
As Preemo, Carney's reign might be a short one. An election is on the calendar for Ottawa later this year. If the Tories pull off a victory, they'll take charge. The election's gotta be held by October, but it could go down as early as in a few weeks.
The Tories have been leading in the polls for a while now, but the Libs have made a comeback, especially due to the beef with the Yanks. During his campaign for the leadership, Carney pledged to "right the economy" and give Trump a taste of his own medicine.
On Hump Day, Carney acknowledged a willingness to chat with Trump, on the condition that "Canada's independence is preserved and we put our noggins together on a joint strategy." Trump's been vocal about his desire for Canada to join the U.S. as the 51st state.

A hint of the past: Carney was born in England and holds dual British-Canadian citizenship.
And fun fact, he's married to a former model and was once a bond trader himself.
Despite serving as the Governor of the Bank of Canada before, Carney is now taking on a new role as Canadian Prime Minister, following Justin Trudeau's departure. On Wednesday, Carney expressed his readiness to discuss issues with Donald Trump, especially concerning Canada's future independence, as the upcoming election in Ottawa looms on Sunday.
