Cần Thơ and T&T Group forge a bold vision for Mekong Delta's future
Cần Thơ City has partnered with T&T Group to explore major development projects across infrastructure, energy, and urban planning. The agreement, signed on March 31, aims to transform the Mekong Delta city into a modern, sustainable hub for logistics, industry, and high-tech agriculture. Chairman Trương Cảnh Tuyên highlighted the collaboration as a key step toward unlocking new growth opportunities while ensuring long-term environmental and economic benefits. Under the deal, T&T Group will assess upgrades to a stadium in the Cái Khế area. Plans include a new Olympic sports complex and a 3,400-hectare workforce training zone. The group will also study urban projects such as Võ Văn Kiệt, Ô Môn 1, and Ô Môn 2, alongside the Hưng Phú complex.
Energy and sustainability form a core part of the partnership. Both sides intend to develop a renewable energy centre, creating a modern, eco-friendly energy ecosystem. Clean energy initiatives will be explored to support Cần Thơ's goal of becoming a green, high-tech city. The agreement also covers a proposed 17,000-hectare aerotropolis and logistics complex linked to the city's airports. T&T Group will examine ways to expand aviation services, including potential international routes from Cần Thơ Airport to attract tourism, investment, and skilled workers. High-tech agriculture will receive a push through digital transformation and large-scale, value chain-based production. T&T Group, which operates in finance, real estate, energy, and infrastructure, brings experience to the projects. Chairman Tuyên noted that working with such a large corporation would help Cần Thơ advance its vision as a regional leader in industry, services, and sustainable development.
The cooperation between Cần Thơ and T&T Group sets the stage for large-scale urban, energy, and infrastructure projects. If implemented, the plans could reshape the city's economy, improve connectivity, and strengthen its position as a key logistics and agricultural centre in the Mekong Delta. Further studies and proposals will determine the next steps for each initiative.
