Canada and the US have been embroiled in a trade discord. One moment, President Donald Trump slaps on steep tariffs, the next, he ponders the possibility of invading Canada, should the need arise. Now, some Canadians aim to retaliate in an unconventional and playful manner - targeting the US in their private domains.

"Pornhub," a leading global destination for adult content, is headquartered in Canada. According to statistical insights, the platform garnered around 5.25 billion visits within a month last year (November)[2].

The US boasts the highest number of users hailing from its shores, consuming pornographic content. stoked by a Canadian comedian's video, a petition is now afloat to blacklist these users from the site.

The idea was initiated by comedian Matthew Puzhitsky in an Instagram video which garnered 11.7 million views. The ensuing petition aims to contribute effectively, yet peacefully, to the on-going trade standoff with the US.

Marc Olimpo, the petition stirrer, spoke to the New York Post about it[4]. He voiced that the US-Canada dispute is the blazing topic across Canada today. However, his petition on the change.org site has yet to gather significant steam.

The "Pornhub" Leverage in the US-Canada Trade War

As of this writing, the petition has garnered only 602 signatures, falling far short of the number required for success (among Canada's 40 million population)[3]. Albeit the low number of signatures, the initiative has generated considerable buzz and attention, symbolizing a unique form of retaliation against the US tariffs.

The New York Post claims to have received concerned messages from US citizens. One user from Manhattan threatened to relocate if access to Pornhub is denied. Another American expressed doubts over the brutal Canadian move, "Canadians wouldn't do that to us... would they?" showcasing a collision of humor and the tense trade war between the two countries.
