Campaign Support for Contenders in the 2025 New York City Mayoral Race
In the race for New York's Assembly District, Democrat Zohran Mamdani has garnered a significant amount of support from a diverse group of individuals and organisations. The list of endorsements includes city and state officials, progressive groups, and labour unions, reflecting Mamdani's class-focused political agenda and calls for police reform.
City Comptroller Brad Lander, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and numerous other state senators such as Brad Hoylman-Sigal, John Liu, Julia Salazar, Jabari Brisport, Kristen Gonzalez, Gustavo Rivera, Michael Gianaris, Zellnor Myrie, Luis Sepúlveda, Jose Serrano, Nathalia Fernandez, Liz Krueger, Jamaal Bailey, Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Micah Lasher, Emily Gallagher, Phara Souffrant Forest, Marcela Mitaynes, Karines Reyes, Claire Valdez, Sarahana Shrestha, Khaleel Anderson, Robert Carroll, Jessica González-Rojas, Brian Cunningham, Steven Raga, Manny De Los Santos, Khaleel Anderson, Bobby Carroll, George Alvarez, Jordan Wright, Harvey Epstein, Al Taylor, Tony Simone, Emerita Torres, Mark Levine, Antonio Reynoso, Donovan Richards, Vanessa Gibson, Adrienne Adams, Chi Ossé, Justin Brannan, Shaun Abreu, Carmen De La Rosa, Pierina Sanchez, Jennifer Gutiérrez, Sandy Nurse, Lincoln Restler, Alexa Avilés, Tiffany Cabán, Shahana Hanif, Erik Bottcher, Crystal Hudson, Rita Joseph, Julie Won, Oswald Feliz, Diana Ayala, and Kevin Riley are among those who have endorsed Mamdani.

Notable among Mamdani's endorsements is the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), as well as various progressive and left-wing groups in New York City. Grassroots activists have been drawn to his political agenda, which emphasises class issues and police reform.
Endorsements can play a crucial role in a political campaign, adding credibility, boosting fundraising efforts, helping to mobilise supporters, and prompting people to volunteer. However, their impact can be limited in a highly polarised race, as was evident in the New York City Democratic mayoral primary where endorsements did not significantly aid then-front-runner Andrew Cuomo.
It is worth noting that President Donald Trump called Mayor Eric Adams a "very good person" and "a good independent," but did not endorse the incumbent.
This list of endorsements was confirmed by City & State with the individuals or groups directly, through news reports, or on the endorsers' social media accounts. The post was last updated on Sept. 14. Many people and groups that endorsed Cuomo have adopted a wait-and-see approach before throwing their support behind a different candidate in the general election.
District Council 37, United Federation of Teachers, 32BJ SEIU, NYC Central Labor Council AFL-CIO, Hotel and Gaming Trades Council, New York State Nurses Association, United Auto Workers Region 9A, American Federation of Musicians Local 802, 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, Actors' Equity Association, Communications Workers of America have also endorsed Mamdani, demonstrating his strong support among labour unions.
As the race for New York's Assembly District heats up, Mamdani's extensive list of endorsements provides a strong foundation for his campaign, reflecting the broad support he has garnered from various sectors of the political spectrum.
