Step into the thrilling world of the upcoming live-action remake of the legendary ’80s franchise, Masters of the Universe! The cast has been set, with none other than the captivating Camila Mendes taking on the iconic role of warrior goddess Teela.
At 30, Mendes, best known for her role as Veronica Lodge in Riverdale, proves she's every inch the superwoman, embodying Teela with power and grace. With filming underway in London, Mendes was spotted kicking some serious butt in a stunning white and gold jumpsuit, complete with high red boots and tough elbow pads.
Her look was completed by fiery red locks, a stark contrast to her previous raven tresses, showcasing her new vibrant persona. Next to her, leading man Nicholas Galitzine, known for Get Hard and Purple Hearts, slayed as Prince Adam/He-Man, rocking long blonde wigs and dapper pink shirts.
The movie, directed by Travis Knight and produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel, is set to hit theaters in 2026. Teela, being the captain of the royal guard and the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms, the royal family's inventor of weapons, will play a pivotal role. Her relationship with He-Man remains uncertain, as she might be his love interest or a suspect in his identity.
Joining Galitzine and Mendes is Alison Brie, who will portray the wicked Evil-Lyn, second-in-command to the malevolent Skeletor. Brie's casting was announced in early September, while the actor slated to play Skeletor is yet to be revealed. Rumors swirl that Jared Leto is being seriously considered for the role.
The Masters of the Universe franchise was born in 1981 as a line of action figures from Mattel. With mini-comics that detailed each character's backstory, the franchise expanded to children's books, comics, and more. The animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe debuted in 1983, introducing the world to the heroic He-Man and his primary nemesis, Skeletor.
