Spotted on the Set of Her New Romcom - Cameron Diaz returns with a Netflix rom-com and Shrek 5 revival

Cameron Diaz is making a full return to acting with two new Netflix projects. After stepping back from Hollywood, she will star in a romantic comedy set in New York's stand-up scene. The film, titled Bad Day, marks her second major role since her 2025 comeback in Back in Action.

In Bad Day, Diaz plays a struggling comedian navigating New York's tough comedy clubs. Her character enters a marriage of convenience to secure health insurance. The arrangement soon turns into something deeper as the relationship becomes real.

Stephen Merchant co-stars as a high-end hotel employee seeking a wife to boost his social status. Merchant is also directing and co-writing the film, adding his signature wit to the project. Supporting roles include John Segarra and comedian Sherry Cola, rounding out the cast. Beyond this romantic comedy, Diaz has another high-profile role lined up. She will voice Princess Fiona in *Shrek 5*, reprising the character that helped define her career.

The film blends romance, humour, and the pressures of New York's comedy world. Diaz's return to the screen comes after years away, with both Bad Day and Shrek 5 set to bring her back to audiences. Netflix has not yet announced a release date for the project.
