Calp Piano Festival 2026 to feature István I. Székely in a free classical concert
The Calp Piano Festival will return in May 2026 with a highly anticipated concert. Internationally acclaimed pianist István I. Székely will take the stage on Friday, May 29, at 8:00pm. The event, organised by the Department of Culture, promises an evening of classical masterpieces in the heart of Calp. The concert will be held at the Auditori in the Casa de Cultura, a well-known venue for cultural events in the town. Admission is free, but seating is limited, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early to secure a spot. The programme will cater to both seasoned classical music lovers and those new to the genre.
Székely, a respected professor at the Katarina Gurska Conservatory in Madrid and the Franz Liszt Centre for Young Talents, will perform a selection of iconic works. The evening begins with Frédéric Chopin’s dramatic Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat minor, Op. 31. This will be followed by Johannes Brahms’ reflective Three Intermezzi, Op. 117. The concert will reach its climax with Franz Liszt’s powerful Sonata in B minor. Known for its technical demands and emotional depth, the piece is a fitting finale for an evening of world-class piano performance.
The free concert offers a rare opportunity to experience Székely’s artistry in an intimate setting. With a programme featuring Chopin, Brahms, and Liszt, the event is set to attract a diverse audience. Doors will open until the venue reaches full capacity, ensuring a memorable night for all who attend.
