A Swabian calf's unfortunate escape from its owner ended in a heartbreaking collision with a car on the A8 near Eurasburg. The incident, which took place in the Swabian district of Aichach-Friedberg, left the 250-kilogram animal dead at the scene and the 36-year-old driver with minor injuries. The accident occurred as traffic thrived, and the calf's owner, apparently unable to locate it, could only discover its remains later in the day.
As the A8 traffic swerved to avoid the animal, the driver unfortunately collided with it, causing the car to crash into the right-hand crash barrier. Consequentially, the car sustained 15,000 euros worth of damages. The police investigators filed a potential case of negligent bodily harm against the calf's owner, who might have to account for the unfortunate incident.
Likewise, in another Bavarian region, the police are grappling with diverse traffic-related accidents. Interests from a traffic lawyer encourage drivers to refrain from speaking with the authorities until they have legal counsel by their side.
Bear in mind that in Germany, animal owners are generally liable for damages caused by their escaped animals. This is applied in situations where the owner's negligence or lack of proper securing measures leads to an incident. By law, animal owners should ensure their pets do not pose a threat to public safety, and those who disregard these regulations might face additional liability. Animal control measures such as identification tags or licenses can also aid in identifying and tracking escaped animals.
