Calderon Cup Under-21 Tournament tips off with Moalboal and Badian victories

The 1st Calderon Cup Under-21 Basketball Tournament in Cebu Province kicked off with strong performances from Moalboal and Badian. Sixteen teams are competing in the event, which saw two decisive wins in its opening matches.

In the first game, Moalboal made a winning debut by defeating Alcantara 79-57. Leo Talledo led the team with 15 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals, and 2 assists. Jhon Ryan Abines added 11 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Jeremar Calanilao contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists. Alcantara's Yuro Fuentes stood out with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The second match saw Badian overcome Ginatilan 92-77 in a tightly contested game. The lead changed hands 11 times before Badian pulled ahead. James Ivan Alvizo dominated with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals. Clifford Belarmino added 14 points, while Clark Aron Bulahan secured a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Looking ahead, Moalboal will face Dumanjug on March 27 in Ronda. Meanwhile, Alcantara is set to play Ronda in their next fixture.

The tournament's opening matches set an intense tone, with standout individual performances shaping the early results. Both Moalboal and Badian will carry momentum into their next games as the competition progresses.
