Cal Raleigh surpasses Mickey Mantle's career home run record as a switch-hitter, tying Ken Griffey Jr.'s all-time record for the Seattle Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners are on a roll, with their sights set on securing the elusive division title, while catcher Cal Raleigh is chasing a different kind of record - the single-season home run record.

In a 12-5 win against the Royals on Tuesday, Raleigh went deep twice, marking a significant milestone in his career. His first home run of the night was his 55th of the season, breaking the record for the most home runs ever in a season by a switch-hitter, previously held by Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle. This feat also set a new record for the most home runs hit while serving as the catcher, previously held at 42 by Javy Lopez.

Raleigh's impressive performance didn't stop there. His second home run of the night tied Hall of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. for the Mariners' franchise record, with both players now holding 56 home runs.

Julio Rodríguez also had a big game in the match, contributing to the team's winning streak. The Mariners' win marks their longest winning streak since taking 14 in a row in the 2022 season, with this latest victory marking the 10th consecutive win.

Dominic Canzone also made his mark in the game, going 5 for 5 with three home runs. This feat, last achieved by Kyle Seager in 2019 for the Mariners, added to the team's offensive firepower.

With Raleigh's record-breaking performance, he now ties Hack Wilson (1930), and Hank Aaron (1997 and 1998) for the 19th-highest single-season home run total. As the Mariners have 11 remaining games after Tuesday, Raleigh has a chance to climb higher on the single-season home run list.

Luis Gonzalez (2001) and Alex Rodriguez (2002) are next on the list, with 57 home runs each. If Raleigh manages to surpass them, he will be in contention for the top spots in the single-season home run record.

Meanwhile, the Mariners currently maintain a one-game lead in the AL West, keeping them in a strong position to secure the division title. With Raleigh's record-breaking performances and the team's winning streak, the Mariners are certainly a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming games.
