Caitlin Clark's health update: Fevers' star player remains without a set return date, set to miss sixth consecutive game on Friday

Caitlin Clark, the star point guard for the Indiana Fever, is currently out of action due to a right groin injury sustained on July 15, 2025. As of early August, there is no official return timeline for Clark as the Fever prioritise her long-term health and recovery.

The injury timeline for Clark this season has been marred by earlier absences due to left quad and left groin soft-tissue injuries, limiting her to just 13 games so far. The current right groin injury has kept her out since mid-July, and the Fever’s medical team continues to monitor her progress diligently, emphasising patience to avoid setbacks.

Clark expressed concerns about her physical condition, stating, "This is the first time I haven't felt like a young body that can run around and sprint every day." She has been working closely with the medical team on her recovery and rehabilitation.

The Fever have managed to win four straight games in Clark's absence, and her absence has had an impact on the team's offensive rating, which drops from 108.6 to 102.2 without her on the floor. However, the Fever have a better record when Clark plays, with a 8-5 record compared to 7-7 when she does not.

The Fever's four-game road trip begins after Friday's contest, with matchups against the Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks, and Phoenix Mercury. The team will aim to balance Clark's recovery and rehabilitation with ensuring they make the postseason.

The Fever currently sit in sixth place, with a two-game advantage over the ninth-place Washington Mystics. Clark's absence has been felt on the court, with her shooting struggles being a major concern. Despite this, she is still averaging 16.5 points, 5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. Clark is currently shooting 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from 3-point range. She has failed to make a 3-pointer in three separate games and is 7 of 44 from 3-point range in her last seven appearances.

The Fever released an update on July 24 stating that Clark has no additional injuries or damage beyond the groin issue. The team will continue to prioritise her long-term health and recovery, working carefully through rehabilitation without rushing her return.
