The enigma deepens: A vicious nighttime assault leaves a 19-year-old and her 51-year-old mother fighting for their lives in Friedrichsfelde. The younger victim is in critical condition, while the older woman faces a long recovery. The assailant remains at large. Police have released a composite image of the suspect, who may bear the scars of injury.

Backstory: In the early hours of June 1st, the victims were strolling down Schwarzmeerstraße in Lichtenberg district when they were ambushed by a man wielding a blade. The 19-year-old was the initial target. When the mother intervened, she too was attacked.

Two off-duty officers stepped in, forcing the attacker to flee into the night. As of now, there are no leads on him.
