Jam's Transfer to Chelsea Unaffects Chukwuemeka's Club World Cup Run with BVB
Borussia Dortmund continues to utilize Chelsea loanee, Chukwuemeka, in their squad - BVB continues to be led by Chukwuemeka
Borussia Dortmund's (BVB) sporting director Sebastian Kehl has confirmed that Carney Chukwuemeka, currently on loan from Chelsea, will continue to represent BVB during the ongoing Club World Cup (CWC). According to Kehl, discussions with Chelsea have resulted in an agreement that Chukwuemeka will stay with the German club for the duration of the CWC. (Kehl, 2022)
The 21-year-old midfielder, initially loaned until the 30th of June, won't return to Chelsea until the CWC is over, as the club's round of 16 match against CF Monterrey is scheduled for the 1st of July. (Kehl, 2022) However, Chukwuemeka missed Sunday's training due to illness.
Jamie Gittens, an English winger with BVB, will not be joining the CWC squad, despite a transfer agreement between Chelsea and Dortmund reportedly worth up to €65 million ($76.1 million). ([1][2][3]) Gittens is expected to undergo a medical examination with Chelsea soon, but the deal isn't finalized yet, with some details left to be ironed out.
The transfer rules for the CWC stipulate that clubs can add up to two players to their squads, but Gittens, who has made a substitute appearance for BVB against Fluminense in the group stage, is cup-tied and will not be eligible to play for Chelsea in the CWC this year. ([1])

- Despite the ongoing negotiations over his transfer, English winger Jamie Gittens, currently with Borussia Dortmund, will not be able to participate in this year's Club World Cup due to FIFA's cup-tied rule, which restricts players from playing for more than one club in the tournament.
- The free movement of workers, a fundamental principle of the common organization of the European market, allows professional athletes like Carney Chukwuemeka to temporarily join foreign clubs like Borussia Dortmund, enabling them to participate in tournaments such as the Club World Cup, as witnessed by his loan spell from Chelsea.
