Business magnate Mark Cuban supports Clippers owner Steve Ballmer once more, writing a lengthy rebuttal to sportswriter Pablo Torre's criticism.

In a series of statements posted on his X, formerly Twitter, Mark Cuban has been engaging in a back-and-forth with sports journalist Pablo Torre about Kawhi Leonard's endorsement deal with Aspiration, a tree-planting company.

According to Torre's sources, Aspiration was functioning as a broker for carbon credits. The cost to plant a tree, reportedly, ranges from 10 to 20 cents. However, Aspiration allegedly approved $28 million per tree for Leonard's deal, which is five to ten times the cost.

Cuban noted that to confirm what the true cost of carbon credits is, one needs to figure out how much cash they had to put up front and what, if any, profits or losses they had on them. He also mentioned that putting up the cash allows Aspiration to spend the money to start the carbon credit (CC) process.

The margin that Cuban referred to in his tweet is the amount that Aspiration made from selling carbon credits to pay Leonard. Cuban added that when you buy carbon credits, they are not like buying a physical product unless they have already verified credits. You get the credits at a certain point after they are verified.

Cuban also questioned whether the $2 million and $10 million weren't directed to Leonard. He stated that he focused too much on the dates in the discussion about Leonard's deal with Aspiration.

Pablo Torre outlined Steve Ballmer's involvement with Aspiration. However, Cuban defended Ballmer's alleged non-involvement in Leonard's deal with Aspiration. Cuban explained that Aspiration raised funds through carbon credits to pay Leonard instead of using Ballmer's investment.

An update to this story is expected soon. This information comes from Torre's Pablo Finds Out segment. Cuban questioned whether Torre's sources who said it was common knowledge the $50 million was for cap circumvention were incorrect. He also added that Aspiration is supposed to plant the tree or whatever kind they bought, and you get the credits at a certain point after they are verified.
