Bus skids into house wall due to ice: Two seriously injured - Bus skids on black ice, crashes into house in Mönchengladbach

A city bus skidded on black ice and crashed into a house in Mönchengladbach on Thursday evening. The accident left two people seriously injured and caused difficulties for emergency crews working in freezing conditions. The vehicle struck a house wall and a driveway gate after losing control on the icy road. Rescue teams were quickly called to the scene to assist those involved. The incident happened as the bus travelled at low speed along a slippery stretch of road. Despite the caution, the vehicle slid on the black ice and collided with the property. Inside, the 33-year-old driver and an 83-year-old female passenger suffered serious injuries. Four other people—two passengers and the home’s residents—escaped without harm. Emergency responders arrived promptly but faced challenges due to the icy surface. Some crew members slipped while trying to secure the area and treat the wounded. A gritting truck was later dispatched to spread salt around the crash site. This helped stabilise the conditions for ongoing recovery efforts. Authorities have not yet released details about the bus operator or the exact cause of the skid. The injured driver and passenger were taken to hospital for treatment. Investigations into the crash continue, with a focus on the road conditions at the time. Local services have reminded drivers to take extra care during icy weather.
