Bus skids off icy Altai highway but all 19 passengers escape unharmed
A passenger bus veered off the road into a ditch along the Chuya Highway in Kosikha District, Altai Krai, last night. Despite strong crosswinds and icy conditions, no injuries were reported among the 19 passengers and the driver. Emergency responders and road maintenance crews rushed to the scene to assist.
The bus, en route to Barnaul, left the road near the village of Polkovnikovo. It did not overturn, which likely minimised potential harm. All passengers were safely transferred to another bus to continue their journey. The incident is preliminarily attributed to strong crosswinds and icy road conditions.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the incident. Meanwhile, another tragedy struck Altai Krai when a man drowned during a fishing trip. Fortunately, in the bus incident, no injuries were reported, and passengers were able to continue their journey.
