Bus fire briefly shuts down Rott district road on Friday

A bus fire caused minor disruption in the Rott district on Friday, March 27, 2026. The incident led to a brief road closure and an emergency response. No injuries were reported as the vehicle carried only the driver at the time. Altenkirchen police received reports of a burning bus on State Road L 265 at around 11:30 AM. Thick smoke was visible from the vehicle, prompting firefighters and medical teams to rush to the scene.

A technical fault in the engine compartment triggered the blaze. Crews quickly contained the fire and extinguished it before further damage occurred. As a precaution, Federal Road B 256 was temporarily closed while emergency services worked. This marks the second bus fire on German federal roads in recent months. The previous incident involved a line bus on the B9 near Andernach on March 1, 2026, where the driver suffered minor injuries.

The fire was brought under control without harm to the driver. Traffic resumed once the scene was cleared. Authorities will likely investigate the cause to prevent future occurrences.
