Buryatia's Athletes Excel in the Russia Cup Competition
In the heart of Tuva's capital, Kyzyl, the Russian Cup in archery took place from July 27 to August 2. This year's event saw a strong performance from the archers of Baikal, who brought home several medals.
The women's compound bow category was a triumph for Diana Oshorova, who clinched the first place, under the guidance of her coach Zina Khaludorova. Soelma Syrenova also made her mark, securing third place in the classic bow, women's category.
The classic bow category proved to be a battleground for the men as well. The podium was entirely filled by archers from Buryatia, repeating their impressive performance from last year's Russian Cup in Novosibirsk. Galsan Bazarzhapov took the first place, while Buyanto Osorov and Arslan Baldanov followed closely in second and third places, respectively.
In the mixed teams, classic bow event, Svetlana Gomboeva and Tsiren Báltakov won the third place, and Sergei Tsyrenov finished in fourth. Svetlana Gomboeva, coached by Konstantin Erdynev, also won the first place in the classic bow, women's category.
The regional government's press service reported that Baikal archers won one gold, two silver, and two bronze medals in total. Ruslan Serebryakov took the second place in the compound bow, men's category, and Alexander Dambaev secured third place in the men's compound bow category. Balzhin Dorzhiev took the second place in the Women's Classic Bow category.
Diana Oshorova and Sergei Shenkhorov also won the third place in the mixed teams, compound bow event.
