The restaurant’s owner, Naseim Baste, now faces a lengthy recovery. He estimates repairs and cleaning will take at least two months. The sudden rupture followed a period of fluctuating temperatures, which weakened the pipes.

Plumbers expect more calls as cold weather continues. Jordan Blanton, service manager at Goode Plumbing, predicts a surge in burst pipe emergencies. He advises homeowners to insulate exposed pipes to avoid similar problems.

David Denison, owner of Do Right Rooter in Bridgeview, offers additional tips. He recommends leaving faucets dripping to keep water moving. Heat wraps on vulnerable pipes can also prevent freezing. Knowing the location of the main water shutoff is another key step in emergencies.

The View Family Restaurant remains closed while crews work on repairs. The incident highlights the risks of freezing pipes during unpredictable weather. Proper insulation and maintenance can help prevent costly damage in homes and businesses.
