Burlington enforces strict parking bans as winter storm slams the city
The City of Burlington has declared a Significant Weather Event as a winter storm hits the area. Starting from 12 a.m. on January 26, residents must follow strict parking rules to avoid penalties. The storm has already triggered a Snow Event, which began at 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, and remains active for now.
The Significant Weather Event declaration means normal winter maintenance timelines are suspended. Residents cannot park on streets until the Snow Event ends, even if the weather declaration lasts longer. All parking exemptions and permits are also temporarily invalid during this period.
Vehicles left on the road may be ticketed or towed. The city has warned that the Snow Event and the Significant Weather Event may not conclude at the same time. Updates on road conditions and parking restrictions will be posted on the city's website at burlington.ca/snow.
The restrictions will stay in place until officials lift the Snow Event declaration. Residents should check the city's website for the latest information. Failing to move vehicles off the street could result in fines or towing.
