Bundesliga Football Updates: Argentine player Echeverri secured on a loan deal with Bayer Leverkusen
Manchester City's Claudio Echeverri Joins Bayer Leverkusen on Loan
Claudio Echeverri, the 19-year-old Argentine midfielder, has joined Bayer Leverkusen on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The deal does not include an option or obligation to buy, and Manchester City will receive a fee for the temporary switch[1][2][3].
Echeverri joined Manchester City in January 2024 from River Plate in Buenos Aires for approximately €18 million[1][2][3]. After a brief spell with Manchester City, he was loaned back to River Plate until January 2025. Following his return to Manchester City, he made appearances in the Premier League, FA Cup, and Club World Cup.
Echeverri is yet to undergo a medical examination with Leverkusen, and no further details about the loan deal, such as the option to buy, have been disclosed[1][2][3]. It is unclear if Echeverri will be a candidate for the right offensive position in Erik ten Hag's 3-4-3 system, but he could potentially compete with the likes of Nathan Tella, who can also play in that position.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim Maza and Malik Tillman have been playing in the right offensive position during preseason, and there has been no mention of Amine Adli joining AFC Bournemouth, or any other potential candidates for the right offensive position other than Echeverri[1][2][3].
Borussia Dortmund was also reportedly interested in Echeverri, but he has chosen to join Leverkusen instead. Leverkusen will host TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in their first Bundesliga match this Saturday.
