Darmstadt 98 Takes to the Skies with Drone Delivery Service

Soccer enthusiasts of Darmstadt 98 now have a new reason to cheer – the Bundesliga club has become the first in the world to utilize drones for delivering goods from its fan shop to supporters. This innovative collaboration with German aerospace company Wingcopter is part of a trial project.

Fans can order merchandise through a dedicated website (www.liefermichel.de) and choose a delivery slot. The drones travel to specific landing zones in suburban areas and urban centers, where they are handed off to an electric delivery bike to reach their intended recipient's doorstep.

Alas, not every fan can experience this cutting-edge service. The project is currently limited to the Michelstadt districts of Würzburg and Rehbach.

Martin Kowalewski, Darmstadt 98's managing director at 53, expressed his delight about the drone delivery project, emphasizing the club's commitment to blending tradition with innovation and modernity. “Our collaboration with Wingcopter exemplifies our pursuit of innovation,” Kowalewski stated, “We aim to always find new ways to bring our fans closer to the club or vice versa.”

The project is hoped to attract more supporters in rural areas, boosting the club's presence in first Bundesliga.
