Bumbershoot Festival returns with Death Cab for Cutie and Turnstile in 2024
Seattle's Bumbershoot Arts & Music Festival returns for its 53rd year on September 5-6. The event will take place across the 74-acre Seattle Center campus. Tickets are now on sale, with various options available for attendees.
The festival's lineup includes well-known acts like Death Cab for Cutie, Turnstile, and Japanese Breakfast. Saturday's performances feature Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast, and Blood Orange, while Sunday highlights Death Cab for Cutie, Orville Peck, and De La Soul. Additional artists such as Bikini Kill, Chase & Status, and Noname—celebrating the 10th anniversary of Telefone—will also take the stage. The full schedule is listed on the Bumbershoot website.
Bumbershoot once drew crowds of 250,000–300,000 in the 1990s and early 2000s, with daily attendance exceeding 50,000. By the 2010s, numbers fell to around 100,000–150,000 overall, with daily averages dropping to 20,000–30,000. The festival was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic and has yet to return to its previous scale. Children aged 12 and under can enter for free with a ticketed adult. General admission, re-entry passes, and deluxe tickets are available for purchase.
The two-day event offers a mix of music, arts, and performances across Seattle Center. With a range of ticket options and a diverse lineup, organisers aim to attract both long-time fans and new visitors. Further details, including the full artist schedule, can be found on the festival's official website.
