Build a road to Zykov, near Krasnoyarsk, for a billion dollars over three years.

In the heart of Siberia, progress is underway on a long-awaited project to rebuild a significant stretch of the Krasnoyarsk-Zykovo-Tymovsky road. The 3.5 km section, costing approximately 1.1 billion rubles, will alleviate the congestion and delays faced by motorists due to passing trains on the Trans-Siberian Railway.

The issue with traffic flow in Zykovo, just 3km from Krasnoyarsk, has been a problem for quite some time. The village is divided by the railway, creating difficulties for residents to travel from one part of the settlement to another, especially during peak hours when slow-moving trains block the level crossing.

Not only does this road serve local residents, but it is also popular among many Krasnoyarsk dacha owners, providing access to Managorsk, Sorokino, Novoselk, and the settlement of Berezovka.

Andrey Zharavlev, the head of the KransnoYarsk Road Administration, acknowledges the urgent need to address the traffic problem. "The current road crossing the Trans-Siberian Railway often leads to significant traffic jams. The closure of the crossing, particularly during peak hours, results in constant traffic congestion that reduces speed, decreases capacity, and complicates the movement of emergency vehicles and school buses."

To address this issue, plans include building a two-lane bypass along the railway, connecting the Krasnoyarsk-Zykovo-Tymovsky and Berezovka-Managorsk roads. Although the route will be longer, it will be unobstructed. A viaduct over the railway, located 3.5km from Zykovo, will be the destination for the bypass.

AO "KraiDEO" will carry out the construction work, which is expected to take three years.

In 2024, the road workers will start preparations for the construction, cleaning the land, and clearing the shoulder of debris. Soil layers will be removed, temporary roads will be created for water pipe installation, power lines, communications, railway infrastructure, and sewer lines will be rearranged.

According to earlier reports, the development of the communication network will include modernizing 13.1 km of communication lines, 2.6 km of sewage lines, and 2.8 km of overhead electrical lines.

In subsequent phases, contractors will create a land platform, lay 7m-wide asphalt pavement on the road, install a water supply system, and erect seven water supply stations with stairs, cleaning wells, and other amenities, as relayed by the road administration. A total of 217 traffic signs will be installed on the road.

Interestingly, plans also include starting a bus service along the route. According to the tender documents, there will be four stops with pull-off lanes and lighting.

A 4km-long stretch of streetlights will be installed along the road, along with a 2.25m-wide sidewalk and pedestrian barriers.

Citizens can look forward to driving on the new road by 2027.

For those interested in obtaining more detailed information about the project, it's recommended to consult official Russian sources. The Krasnoyarsk Krai Government Portal (www.krskstate.ru) often provides press releases or infrastructure announcements (use Google Translate for Russian content). The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation may also list regional projects or federal funding allocations on their official site. Local news outlets in Krasnoyarsk, such as TVK Krasnoyarsk or NGS24.ru, often report on such projects. Additionally, contacting the Krasnoyarsk Krai Transport Ministry directly via their official contacts could yield valuable information. Procurement portals like zakupki.gov.ru may have tender documents related to the project (filter by Krasnoyarsk Krai). Engaging with community groups or business associations in Zykovo might provide updates on lobbying efforts.

In Krasnoyarsk, the results of the auction for the reconstruction of the significant highway Krasnoyarsk - Kuznetzovo - Zykovo have been summed up. The bypass section in Zykovo, about 3.1 km long, will cost approximately 1.1 billion rubles, but the project is highly significant for the traffic flow. Today, vehicles are forced to stand in traffic jams, waiting for the railroad crossing on the Trans-Siberian Railway.
