The station’s launch is the first phase of a broader project to revitalise the area around KeyBank Center. Nearly 50,000 square feet of second-floor outdoor space will soon host events, with plans to open this section in summer 2026. A truck elevator for vendors is also part of the design.

The DL&W Station’s opening introduces new transport links and event spaces to Buffalo’s waterfront. Further developments, including the bridge and second-floor venue, are set to follow in the coming year. The project represents the first major upgrade to the city’s Metro Rail network since 1985.
