Buenos Aires' Coldest Day of the Year: Anticipated Timing and Predicted Minimum Temperature, According to SMN
A rare cold snap has swept across Argentina, causing temperatures to plummet and leaving many surprised. According to the National Meteorological Service (SMN), the week ahead will remain chilly, with no rain predicted and mostly clear or partly cloudy skies.
On Tuesday, July 1, the coldest day of the week, both Buenos Aires and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) will experience a minimum temperature of 0°C. The maximum temperature for the day will be 10°C. Despite the cold, CABA residents can breathe a sigh of relief as no snow is expected.
The unusual cold is attributed to a combination of a polar air mass and high humidity, a phenomenon that has even surprised those accustomed to the cold in Argentina. In contrast, CABA will see a gradual warming trend from Wednesday, with minimum temperatures ranging between 1°C and 8°C and maximum temperatures reaching as high as 17°C by Sunday, July 6.
The first days of July will see constant winds blowing at speeds between 7 and 22 km/h, predominantly from the west and southwest. The minimum wind speed expected during this period is 7 km/h, while the maximum recorded on Monday, June 30, was a strong 50 km/h.
Elsewhere in Argentina, various regions have experienced snowfall, including Trelew, La Pampa, southern Buenos Aires, the Sierras of Córdoba, Neuquén, San Juan, and Mendoza. However, CABA will remain unaffected by the snowfall.
The SMN has issued forecasts for very cold days this week, but specific temperature predictions for future dates, such as Tuesday, July 1, 2025, in CABA, are not currently available. For the most accurate and up-to-date temperature forecasts, it is recommended to consult the SMN's official website or recent reports.
