Budapest Honors József Bozsik With Statue at Diplomatic Ceremony

A statue honouring Hungarian football legend József Bozsik was unveiled in Budapest on 11 March 2025. Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze attended the ceremony alongside Hungary’s Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó. The event also included Georgia’s ambassador to Hungary, Giorgi Kalandadze, who formally presented his credentials that same day.

The ceremony took place in the Hungarian capital, where Mayor Kaladze joined Minister Szijjártó in paying tribute to Bozsik’s legacy. Szijjártó thanked Kaladze for his presence and stressed Bozsik’s lasting impact on Hungarian football.

The statue now stands as a permanent tribute to Bozsik’s career. Ambassador Kalandadze’s participation marked his first official engagement after presenting his diplomatic credentials. The event strengthened ties between Georgia and Hungary through their shared appreciation of college football.
