Portuguese Authors Head to Romania for Bookfest 2025!
Get ready, Bucharest! The Bookfest International Book Fair is about to roll in, and this year, Portugal takes center stage. Mark your calendars from May 28 to June 1, as Romexpo will be buzzing with Portuguese literature and cultural diversity. Here's a sneak peek at some of the brilliant minds gracing the event:
- 📝 José Luís Peixoto: This award-winning writer, considered one of the most influential voices in Portuguese literature today, will be signing autographs on his latest work, Galveias. Translated into over 30 languages, Peixoto's books are a must-read.
- 🌟 Gonçalo M. Tavares: Compared to Kafka or Lobo Antunes, Tavares has made a name for himself with praise from literary legends like José Saramago, who believed he would one day win the Nobel Prize in Literature. His works have been translated in Romania and Moldova.
- 🗞 Ana Margarida de Carvalho: Apart from being a novelist and short story writer, de Carvalho is also a journalist and screenwriter. Her recent book, Cartografias de Lugares mal Situados (2021), was a finalist for the Portuguese PEN Club Award.
