Slaying Military Duties, BTS Stirs Excitement

BTS Members Jimin and Jung Kook to Discontinue Military Service

Yeoncheon, South Korea - The dynamic duo, Jimin and Jung Kook, from the South Korean sensations BTS, have nailed their military service. With six members having completed their military duties, the expectation is high that the remaining one, Suga, will be discharged on June 21.

The 29-year-old Jimin and the 27-year-old Jung Kook were greeted by reporters and fans near a military base in Yeoncheon, South Korea, on Wednesday. Jimin, speaking to his loyal fans, many who had traveled from across the globe, expressed his gratitude saying, "Thank you for waiting for us."

In South Korea, all fit young men must serve 18 months of military duty between the ages of 18 and 21. This mandatory service forced South Korea's most successful pop music band to take a considerable break since summer 2022. There were whispers of disbandment rumors, but the South Koreans never confirmed these speculations. With BTS members now back on the scene, a comeback might be just around the bend.

BTS sits among South Korea's most successful pop music groups, commonly known as K-pop. With chart-topping songs like "Dynamite" and "Permission to Dance," the boy band has set the music world ablaze. They dropped their debut single "No More Dream" in June 2013.

As of June 2025, apart from Suga, all BTS members have wrapped up their military obligations. With the full group expected to reunite soon, industry insiders whisper of a potential comeback as early as the end of this year or in the first half of 2026. HYBE, BTS's agency, has hinted that the members need time for reflection and preparation before diving back into group activities. The group has furnished fans with hints about a coming return through their FESTA celebrations, which include a two-day offline event in Goyang, South Korea, themed around new beginnings. Jin and J-Hope, who completed their service earlier, have already embarked on solo activities, potentially setting the stage for a revamped and matured group sound. Sources suggest that BTS might usher in a new era of music once they all reconvene.

Among the expected reunions, BTS might delve into a new era of music, following the return of all members. As they navigate other entertainment endeavors, such as solo activities, they also anticipate the collaboration that could resurrect their group sound, fueled by the maturity their individual journeys have granted them.
