Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) Establishes Regional Branch in Schwerin

The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW), a left-wing political party known for its focus on social justice, economic sovereignty, and critical stance toward EU austerity and neoliberalism, has established a regional branch in Schwerin, the state capital of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

The new regional branch, which will be a strong backbone for the party in the 2026 state election, is led by Frank Haberlandt (64) as chairman, Veronika Wegrad-Paul (75) as treasurer, and Patrick Biegemann (29) as deputy chairman. The executive board also includes Linda Csutora (33), Daniel Deba (47), Nico Fräßdorf (43), and Dr. Alexander Nikolitsis (42).

The BSW's regional branch in Schwerin aims to be visible in the city's society and be recognized as a strong force for reason and justice. They intend to address local socio-economic issues such as employment, social welfare, and infrastructure in their efforts leading up to the 2026 state election.

The party sees itself as a participatory one, and monthly open meetings are planned by the Schwerin BSW branch to encourage engagement and discussion among members and supporters. Straetmanns, the state chairperson of BSW in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, spoke of a positive development in building structures across the state. He also invited all members and supporters in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern to join the large demonstration in Berlin on September 13 at the Brandenburg Gate.

Straetmanns's political alliance, the BSW, has also announced a variety of actions and activities this autumn. The alliance will be participating in these events, aiming to further its reach and influence in the region. The BSW welcomes further supporters and members who share its vision for a more just and sovereign society.

By the end of the month, the BSW will have, alongside the state association, eight regional branches across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
