Bruins send Georgii Merkulov back to AHL’s Providence after brief NHL stint

The Boston Bruins have sent forward Georgii Merkulov down to their AHL affiliate in Providence. The 25-year-old had spent most of this season with the minor-league team but briefly appeared in one NHL game. His return to Providence follows a short stint with Boston’s main roster.

Merkulov first joined the Bruins organization in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. Since then, he has spent the majority of his time with Providence, playing 218 AHL games. Over those matches, he has recorded 76 goals and 117 assists, totaling 193 points.

The reassignment means Merkulov will continue developing in the AHL for now. He remains a familiar face in Providence, where he has spent nearly all of his North American career. His next chance with Boston will depend on his form and the team’s needs.
