Brothel Operators Donate 350,000 Euros to Children's Hospital - Brothel Owners' Donation Transforms Berlin Clinic's Entrance
Two anonymous brothel operators, later identified as Hakki and Kenan Simsek, made a significant donation of 350,000 euros to the Virchow Clinic of the Charité in Wedding, Berlin. The donation, which was initially met with controversy, has now been used to transform the entrance area of the children's clinic into a more welcoming space.
The donation came about following a 2016 raid at the 'Artemis' brothel in Berlin, which led to accusations against the operators. However, the Berlin Regional Court later dropped these accusations and did not allow the indictment. The case then moved to the Berlin Court of Appeals, which convicted the state to pay damages. Both sides eventually reached an agreement, with the Simsek brothers donating an increased amount of 350,000 euros to the Charité.
The renovation project, funded by the donation, has seen the clinic's entrance area transformed with forest motifs, a deer and squirrel painting, and oak wood-clad pillars. Astrid Lurati, spokesperson for the Charité, praised the renovations, stating that they create a more welcoming atmosphere for children and families in difficult moments.
Despite initial controversy, the donation from Hakki and Kenan Simsek has resulted in a significant improvement to the Virchow Clinic of the Charité in Wedding. The renovations have created a more colorful and inviting entrance area, providing a more comforting environment for young patients and their families.
