"Broken Promises": Spanish Player Speaks Out Against Galatasaray

Alvaro Morata's Bitter Farewell from Galatasaray

Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has bid a controversial farewell to Galatasaray Istanbul, accusing the club's management of broken commitments and disrespecting fundamental values during his loan spell.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Morata expressed gratitude to the fans and coach Okan Buruk, thanking them for their support and guidance during his time at the club. However, he also harshly criticized the club's management for not upholding their word and breaching principles of fairness.

Morata's loan contract with AC Milan was mutually terminated, with Galatasaray announcing the decision. AC Milan paid a compensation of five million euros to Galatasaray to end the loan agreement, which was originally set to last until the 2026 winter transfer window.

The circumstances surrounding the dissolution of the loan agreement are not specified. However, it is reported that Morata went AWOL from Galatasaray training and remained in Spain to pressure for a move to Como. This move was expected to involve an additional fee for his transfer.

Before the termination, Galatasaray reportedly demanded a transfer fee of €5-6 million before releasing Morata, a demand that frustrated the Spanish striker. In response, Morata waived 651,562 euros in outstanding salary as part of the contract termination.

In his Instagram post, Morata also mentioned that the published figures are not correct. He did not elaborate on what these figures refer to.

The Turkish media described Morata's departure as a "bitter farewell". Despite the strained relationship, Morata expressed confidence that Galatasaray will continue to make history.

There are discussions about a possible move for Morata to Como, with Spanish coach Cesc Fabregas at the helm. This move could see Morata reunite with his former Chelsea teammate, who is now coaching Como.

Morata's time at Galatasaray was not all negative. He scored seven goals and provided three assists in 16 Turkish Super Lig games for the club. However, he felt that promises were not kept and basic values were not accepted during his time at the club.

This critical exit marks a strained relationship between Morata and Galatasaray, despite his positive remarks about the fans and teammates. Morata's post contained accusations against the club, highlighting his disappointment over the treatment from the club's board.
