Brock Lindow, known for his band 36 Crazyfists, rediscovered his passion for music through a new group, Paradise Slaves, after announcing a departure from the music industry.
Former 36 Crazyfists Vocalist Brock Lindow Forms New Band Paradise Slaves
After 25 years of making music together, 36 Crazyfists officially split in 2021, with their final live performance taking place on December 6, 2019, at Chilkoot Charlie’s bar in Anchorage. Since then, former members have regrouped to form a new band called Paradise Slaves, which released its debut album "With Hell In His Eyes" in May 2025.
The decision to end 36 Crazyfists came as vocalist Brock Lindow wanted to step away from touring and focus on his family, especially his daughter, after years on the road. Lindow, known for his unique voice, has deliberately kept Paradise Slaves' live engagements sparse.
Paradise Slaves is a metalcore group, and their music is influenced by New England metalcore bands like Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Unearth, and All That Remains. The band's music also features a more melodic approach compared to traditional metalcore, with Lindow's voice being a significant factor in the sound, similar to that of Chino Moreno and Jesse Leach.
The debut album, With Hell In His Eyes, includes a personal composition titled Dreamers, inspired by Lindow's wife's immigration struggles. Dreamers is an emotionally charged anthem, reminiscent of Slit Wrist Theory or Time And Trauma. The album was produced by Jim Fogarty.
Brock Lindow formed Paradise Slaves with past and present members of Diecast and drummer Ryan Manning. Lindow was also approached by Joel Stroetzel, guitarist of Killswitch Engage, to contribute to a new album in 2021. Paradise Slaves has cherry-picked opportunities to share bills with bands like Killswitch Engage, Fit For An Autopsy, Three Days Grace, and Five Finger Death Punch.
Despite the success of Paradise Slaves, Lindow has no current plans for 36 Crazyfists, but he remains pensive about the band's future. In December 2023, Steve Holt, a member of 36 Crazyfists, confirmed that nothing was going on in the band now or in the future. Lindow had announced in 2019 that he was burned out from touring and did not plan on making music anymore. However, the pandemic made him reassess his life and prioritize being a dad for his daughter, leading him to form Paradise Slaves.
