Upgrading "ZDF-Midday Magazin": Expanded Time Slot and Engaging Content

Embrace a fresh wave of news and entertainment with the popular German news program, "ZDF-Midday Magazin". Starting January 2, prepare for a significant shift in airtime – from 12:10 to 2:00 PM, every weekday. Say goodbye to the previous "drehscheibe" slot, which will no longer be aired.

Redefining Content boundaries

ZDF's press release hints at a more engaging and diverse broadcast. Instead of the conventional 60-minute slot, the extended program offers a whopping 110 minutes of current events, heartwarming stories, and live interviews with influential figures in politics, business, and culture.

Keeping the pulse of current events

As always, current events and international news remain the program's cornerstone. The expanded time slot provides more opportunities for live correspondents to deliver timely information. This means you’ll stay informed on the goings-on around the world. And, yes, there will be a 15-minute documentary segment that brings you eye-opening glimpses of real-life scenarios, such as hospital operations and mountain rescue services.

Ringing in the New Year with Sonnenallee

To kick off the new year, the "Sonnenallee" series will provide shorts about everyday life in the Neukölln neighborhood. Get your dose of these documentaries starting December 28 at 9:00 AM on ZDFmediathek.

Sports and service galore

Don't miss a beat with the increased focus on sports reporting. Stay updated on your favorite events, ensuring you're never left in the dark on the latest news.

Taking up the challenge with open arms

Host Mirjam Meinhardt welcomes the longer broadcasting time with open arms, eager to present more programs and ready to invest extra time in preparation. And she's not alone – the team will grow to include some "drehscheibe" members, guaranteeing seamless transitions and comprehensive coverage.

Continuing from Berlin-Mitte

As it has since 2018, "ZDF-Midday Magazin" will maintain its broadcasting from the ZDF capital studio in Berlin-Mitte, offering a steady stream of updates and features in the expanded time slot.

Two-hour news extravaganza

The extended broadcasting time allows for comprehensive news coverage, delving deep into topics that matter. With its mix of current events, compelling stories, and live interviews, "ZDF-Midday Magazin" promises to remain an invaluable resource for German news enthusiasts.
