"ZDF-Midday Magazin" Gets a Time Extension
The popular German news program, "ZDF-Midday Magazin", is getting a significant upgrade. Set to take effect from January 2, the broadcast duration will be extended. This means viewers can expect to see the show air from 12:10 to 2:00 PM, every weekday. The previous 12:10 to 1:00 PM slot, previously known as the "drehscheibe," will no longer air.
New and Improved Content
ZDF's press release teases even more engaging content. Instead of the traditional 60-minute slot, the extended program will provide almost two hours of current reports, heartwarming stories, and live interviews with influential figures in politics, business, and culture.
In keeping with the show's tradition, current events and international news will remain a primary focus. However, the extended time slot will also offer more opportunities for live correspondents. Additionally, there will be a 15-minute documentary segment that brings you up close and personal with real-life scenarios, such as hospital operations or mountain rescue services.
Starting off the new year, the "Sonnenallee" series will provide short documentaries about everyday life in the Neukölln neighborhood. These episodes will be available for streaming on ZDFmediathek from December 28 at 9:00 AM.
More Service and Sport
The lunchtime slot will also feature more sports and service programming. ZDF promises a stronger focus on sports reporting, ensuring viewers don't miss out on the latest news in their favorite sports.
Mirjam Meinhardt: "A Challenge Worth Embracing"
Although the longer broadcasting time presents a challenge, Mirjam Meinhardt, the host of "ZDF-Midday Magazin," is eager to take it on. She is thrilled about the opportunity to present more programs and is ready to put in the extra preparation needed to make this work. In fact, she's not alone. The team will be expanding to include some of the "drehscheibe" team members, ensuring smooth transitions and well-rounded coverage.
The show will continue to broadcast from the ZDF capital studio in Berlin-Mitte, as it has since 2018, after a 29-year run from Mainz.
Extended Length, Expanded Coverage
The extended broadcasting time allows for more in-depth coverage of current events and topics. It's not just about scheduling - it's also about delivering the news that matters to you. With its mix of current reports, compelling stories, and live interviews, "ZDF-Midday Magazin" promises to remain a crucial resource for German news viewers.
