Saying Adieu to Soap Operas: "Rote Rosen," "Sturm der Liebe," and "In aller Freundschaft - Die jungen Ärzte" Take a Bow
ARD's daily soap operas bid farewell to summer as "Rote Rosen" and "Sturm der Liebe" make their final new episode appearances on June 27. In their absence, the Tour de France and a variety of film productions on ARD will dominate the spotlight. On June 26, the doctors of "In aller Freundschaft - Die jungen Ärzte" will set sail for their summer break, only to return on August 28.
Tempest in a Talk Show: Political Chatter Slows Down
The heated scuffles of "Hart aber fair" with Louis Klamroth will take a summertime nap since May 12. As it goes into summer break, Sandra Maischberger has been enjoying more time in the limelight, with her talk show airing three evenings a week. Maischberger, too, will sign off for the season on July 15.
Both "Markus Lanz" and "maybrit illner" will continue their politically-focused chats on ZDF until July 24, but the UEFA Women's Euro might cause certain cancellations, like July 3 and 10.
Satire at Summer's Doorstep: Laughter Still Lingers
The "heute-show" will shutter its doors for the summer on June 6, but don't fret! ZDF has prepared some special episodes to keep you giggling. A satirical poke at Germany's crumbling infrastructure, titled "Germany has really bad bridges," will air on June 13, while "The coalition agreement under scrutiny - What does the grand coalition want and if so, how many?" will explore the agreement in a humorous way on June 20.

Jan Böhmermann's show "ZDF Magazin Royale" will take a longer break, with comedian Till Reiners stepping in to fill the Friday night time slot from June 20. Reiners' late-night show "Till Tonight" will span the next eight episodes in Böhmermann's usual time slot.

I'm not going to be able to make it to watch the final new episode of "Rote Rosen" on June 27 as it's during my summer break, but I'm looking forward to catching the satirical poke at Germany's crumbling infrastructure titled "Germany has really bad bridges" that will air on ZDF on June 13 instead. However, I'll miss Jan Böhmermann's show "ZDF Magazin Royale" as it takes a longer break, with Till Reiners stepping in to fill the Friday night time slot from June 20.
