British sportscruiser unveiled: Spectacular new Brit offering in the field of sportscruisers
Introducing the Fairline Targa 40: A Luxurious Sports Cruiser
The Fairline Targa 40, a standout in the world of luxury yachts, made its global debut at the 2024 Duesseldorf boat show. Replacing the Princess V40 as the top model at the show, the Targa 40 outperformed its predecessor significantly.
This 41.6-foot (approximately 12.67 meters) yacht is equipped with twin Volvo Penta D6-350 EVC diesel engines, delivering around 350 hp each. This setup allows the Targa 40 to achieve a top speed of approximately 30–35 knots, depending on conditions and exact configuration.
The Targa 40 boasts a sporty, luxurious design with spacious seating and sunbathing areas, and modern amenities such as air conditioning, indoor and outdoor showers, a bathroom, and entertainment systems. Pricing for preowned models is around 110,000 EUR, but can vary depending on year, condition, and extras.
One of the Targa 40's unique features is its rear seats that can transform into aft-facing sunbeds by folding the backrest forward. The stern also features a tender garage under the port side seating, capable of holding a fully inflated 2.3m Zodiac or a partially deflated 2.7m.
The Targa 40's cockpit is equipped with a magic vanishing cockpit table that folds under the seating when not required. A huge fabric sunroof and sliding windows on both sides of the hard top add to the yacht's open and airy feel.
The Targa 40's design includes an extra height and beam of the hull, providing more space than expected. However, the helm area could use extra adjustment for increased kneeroom when seated.
The Targa 40 offers an optional hydraulic bathing platform, although its width is only a couple of feet. The yacht is also equipped with glossy woodwork, expensive fittings, subtle lighting, and classy storage solutions.
In terms of accommodation, the aft guest cabin has just enough headroom to sit upright on the two beds, which slide together to make a double. The lower saloon has a good-sized C-shaped dinette that converts to an extra double. The galley and owner's suite have decent space and ensuite access to the shared bathroom.
The Targa 40's special features include two solarium spaces for sunbathing, often refurbished/refitted for modern comfort. It also offers an optional built-in compressor and charging point for the Torqeedo motor with the tender option.
The Fairline Targa 40 is a desirable luxury sports cruiser suited for day trips and weekend cruising with family and friends. With its combination of performance, luxury, and space, it's no wonder the Targa 40 is a must-have for discerning boat enthusiasts.
