British Man Miraculously Survives 11,000ft Fall After Parachute Malfunction

A British man, Mitchell Deakin, miraculously survived a 11,000ft fall after both his parachutes failed during a tandem jump in Nevada. The 24-year-old from Lancashire was on a dream holiday when the incident occurred. Deakin and his instructor, Jiron Arcos Ponce, both suffered critical injuries. A GoFundMe appeal has been launched to help cover Deakin's medical expenses, with over £16,000 raised so far.

The parachute malfunction happened shortly after the jump from Jean Airport, Clark County, Nevada. An emergency parachute was deployed but also failed, causing the pair to crash into the ground at speeds between 35mph to 45mph. Deakin suffered severe injuries including a fractured pelvis, broken ribs, a perforated lung, and a damaged kidney. He has since recovered well and celebrated his 25th birthday with his mother. Arcos Ponce remains in a critical condition following the incident.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident. The donation campaign for Deakin's medical costs on the GoFundMe page was started by his close friend, Jessica Taylor.

Deakin's survival is a testament to human resilience. The GoFundMe campaign continues to support his recovery, with over £16,000 raised so far. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
