Montreal's Cinemania Film Festival to Premiere "Where Do Souls Go?"
The Cinemania Film Festival, a celebrated event in Montreal, is set to host the world premiere of the highly anticipated film "Where Do Souls Go?" (Où vont les âmes) during its 31st edition.
Directed by the acclaimed Brigitte Poupart, known for her work on "Over My Dead Body", this will be her first fiction feature film. The event was announced on August 13, 2025, coinciding with the festival's dates.
The gala event for "Where Do Souls Go?" will take place on November 10th at the Theatre Maisonneuve in Place des Arts. The director and her team will be in attendance, making it an exciting event for film enthusiasts.
The film tells the story of Sara Montpetit as Anna, an 18-year-old who has requested medical assistance to end her life. Anna wishes to reunite her half-sisters and her mother in the house of their father before her final days. The film also stars Monia Chokri, Julianne Cote, Sylvie Testud, and Jean Marchand, who voices the father in the film.
The father, a famous pianist, is imprisoned for sexual assault. This dark and thought-provoking story promises to be a powerful addition to the festival.
For those interested in attending, tickets for the Cinemania Film Festival are now on sale. The festival will take place in Montreal from November 4th to 16th.
Interestingly, the poster for Cinemania's 31st edition was created using a photo from Brigitte Poupart's film "Where Do Souls Go?". Manon Dumais, the creator of the poster, has done an exceptional job in capturing the film's essence.
