Bridge Spanning Bay in 2025
On a foggy morning on July 13, 2025, the Dolphin Swimming & Boating Club took on the challenging Bay Bridge Swim. With over 70 members, known as "dolphins," participating, the event was a resounding success.
The swim was expertly handled by the pilots, with Ramsey Williams and Nathaniel Berger taking the lead. Among the skilled pilots were Tim McElligott, Ellen Offermann, Ben Chun, Dave Buchanan, Marci Glazer, and many others, totalling 30 in all. Their dedication and expertise ensured the safety of all participants.
The volunteers, too, played a crucial role in the event's success. Led by Lindsay Stripling as the lead Swim Commissioner, they included Andy Stone, Kristoffer Milonas, Kalani Leifer, and many more, totalling 30 volunteers in all. Their hard work ensured that the swim ran smoothly and efficiently.
Despite the traffic around "creakers" during the swim, the conditions were overall favourable. The swimmers navigated the traffic situation skillfully, reaching the cove in record time. The swim was handled safely, thanks to the diligent efforts of the pilots and volunteers.
The Bay Bridge swim was not open to other swim teams or clubs that day, as the Great Bridge Swim and Racquet Club Piranhas, along with other swim groups, had separate scheduled events around that time.
This impressive feat by the Dolphin Swimming & Boating Club is a testament to their commitment, skill, and teamwork. The club continues to set new standards and inspire other swimming communities.
