Bridge Segment of Carola Remains Hanging at Neck-Level Position
Gearing Up for the Dresden Carol Bridge's Grand Finale
After months of preparations, it's finally showtime! The Dresden Carol Bridge is about to make its dramatic exit starting this Thursday. So buckle up, folks, because it's gonna be a spectacle!
Two mighty excavators are set to take center stage, ready to dismantle the bridge deck and bring down the remnants. First, they'll tear up the asphalt and concrete, exposing the tension cables. Next, they'll switch gears, employing powerful shears to cut through the steel cables, causing the bridge sections to collapse.
Crane Dances on the Edge
A 120-ton long-arm excavator, boasting a 40-meter arm, will be the main event, reaching from section B to A. On the New Town shore, a 70-ton excavator with an approximately 25-meter boom will join in the dance, ensuring a well-coördinated demolition.
Once section A takes its final bow, the same routine will unfold for section B. The plan is for the sections to land on a safe cushion of sand and stones, making cleanup a breeze. Up to ten excavators will then work together, crushing the debris for easy removal.
Timing is Everything... or Is It?
The exact moment the bridge sections will tumble down is anyone's guess. But it could happen as early as Thursday, or we might have to wait until Friday.
Demolition activities are scheduled from 6 AM to 8 PM each day. If necessary, work can continue on Sunday, June 15, 2025, to wrap things up statically.

Fun Fact: Did you know the demolition process started in March 2025, after the bridge closed due to serious structural issues[3]? And with ten excavators in action, this isn't just a one-man show—it's a fully orchestrated dance of destruction! So grab your popcorn and enjoy the show!
During the grand finale, spectators might also be interested in sports-betting on the precise moment the bridge sections will tumble down or the duration of the dismantling process. The Dresden Carol Bridge Demolition, a spectacle in itself, is reminiscent of a high-stakes sports-betting event.
