An Evening of Fanfare – Every Bit of It!
Whenever Nordbräu summons their strong brew, the city bigwigs of Ingolstadt respond in droves. Yesterday was no exception, as businesswoman Eva Wittmann warmly welcomed a horde of guests in the chestnut garden. She lightheartedly referenced the impending sermon by Andreas Huber, an event much anticipated by many visitors as eagerly as that first gulp of the refreshingly tapped ice bock.
The Mayor, Michael Kern, took over the mic post-tap and mused that "quite nearly the entire city council was present." Perhaps local political promises taste better with a strong brew?
Then Huber sauntered onto the stage - more contemporary than ever. With a snazzy video reel as an introduction, he demonstrated that even age-old customs like the fasting sermon have ventured into the social media era. However, the main event had everyone's mouths agape: A hilarious, scathingly accurate take on local politics. His zingers had the crowd in stitches: "Political platforms areHashed out while tipsy" and "Some voters appear to have veered off course - sadly, the respective representatives cannot be replaced."
Ingenious budget solutions for the city were also proposed: The town hall transformed into an Asian market, and the Kreuztor as a party checkpoint with a minimum booze level. Hollywood was not neglected – after all, the city has enough filming locations for a blockbuster. However, the shoot might flop merely due to a shortage of adapters for 60-year-old power outlets at the historical backdrop of the city theater.
Before sending the crowd off on an excursion through the revitalized Ingolstadt – dubbed the "Boulevard Harderstraße" with kebabs, tattoos, and Prosecco in cans from REWE – Huber bid adieu with the words: "And now you can have me, Kern." The crowd erupted, the Schanz musicians played a few classics, and the night ended as a typical strong beer night should: with tunes, laughter, and a dash of humor.
