Brentford Secures Record-Breaking Signing of Dango Ouattara

Brentford Football Club has made a significant move in the transfer market by signing Burkina Faso international forward Dango Ouattara from AFC Bournemouth in a club-record deal worth £42 million. Ouattara joined Brentford in August 2025, having made 88 appearances and scoring 11 goals for Bournemouth since January 2023.

Ouattara began his career at Majestic in Burkina Faso before moving to French side Lorient in 2020. His impressive performances at Lorient caught the attention of Premier League clubs, and he transferred to Bournemouth in 2023. Brentford surpassed their previous record signing with this deal, reflecting Ouattara's Premier League experience and young talent.

Meanwhile, Yoane Wissa, the DR Congo international currently training alone, is pushing for a move to Newcastle United. However, his potential move to St. James' Park is dependent on Dango Ouattara's arrival at Brentford. It is believed that Wissa had a gentleman's agreement with Brentford to leave this summer.

Brentford were initially adamant that Wissa would not be sold after Bryan Mbeumo left to join Manchester United. However, they were willing to soften their not-for-sale stance if they found a suitable replacement. With the imminent arrival of Ouattara, Wissa's move to Newcastle could be on the horizon.

The transfer of Ouattara to Brentford could potentially lead to Alexander Isak leaving Newcastle. Newcastle have been linked with several strikers, including Aston Villa's Ollie Watkins, RB Leipzig's Lois Openda, Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson, and Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen.

Ouattara emerged as a useful striker for Bournemouth amid an injury crisis last term, scoring seven goals in the Premier League. He even managed a hat-trick against Nottingham Forest in January. Dango Ouattara is eager to join Brentford and contribute to their success in the upcoming season.
