More Space for Large Ships - Industrial Port Modernized - Bremen's Industrial Port Expands with €6.65M Quay, Boosting Cargo Capacity
Bremen's Industrial Port, a crucial seaport since 1910, has undergone a significant upgrade. The new 230-meter quay, constructed by Zech Group SE at a cost of €6.65 million, has expanded the port's cargo operation area by 3,100 square meters. This development allows the port to handle more seaborne news, including construction materials, timber, steel, and vehicle parts, which account for about half of the city's total. The new pier, completed in one year, can accommodate cargo and tanker ships with a draft of up to 10.5 meters. Its construction involved approximately 875 tons of sheet piling steel and around 130 meters of anchoring piles, along with roughly 22,000 cubic meters of sand. The Kali Harbor facilities, previously outdated, have been replaced, and some cargo operations have been relocated to the new structure. The Industrial Port, home to around 50 cargo handling, logistics, and industrial companies, now has additional berthing space, further boosting its capacity and efficiency. The new quay in Bremen's Industrial Port is set to enhance the city's trade and economic activities. With its increased capacity and modern facilities, the port is well-equipped to handle the city's growing seaborne news, including construction materials and vehicle parts.
