Bremen School Rock Festival Kicks Off with Mayor's AC/DC Riff

The 30th Bremen School Rock Festival kicked off with a bang, quite literally, as Mayor Andreas Bovenschulte started the evening with an AC/DC 'TNT' riff on guitar. The event, held at the packed Schlachthof, was supported by several local organisations and businesses, including Sparkasse Bremen, the Bremen School Offensive, and Yamaha.

Over the past three decades, the festival has seen an impressive number of applications, with around 1,300 bands comprising approximately 6,500 students vying for a chance to perform. This year's edition featured five talented bands: 'Rays', 'Wake Up', 'The Cave', 'Reflexxion', and 'The Rookies'.

The festival culminated in an exciting award ceremony. 'The Cave' emerged victorious, winning the 'Bremen School Offensive' prize for best live performance. This prestigious award came with a recording day at 'Studio Hire' in Ottersberg, including video production, worth 900 euros. Senator for Education Sascha Karolin Aulepp congratulated the winners and expressed enthusiasm for future performances.

The 30th Bremen School Rock Festival, supported by various local sponsors, provided a platform for school bands from Bremen and neighboring districts to showcase their talents. With 'The Cave' winning the best live performance award, the festival not only celebrated local music but also offered opportunities for young artists to develop their skills and gain recognition.
