Breaking record yet again: Courtney Dauwalter surpasses course peak in mainly upward competition

New and Improved Version:

Get ready to be blown away by Courtney Dauwalter, the ultra-running queen, who's breaking records left and right! She's been prepping for her first 250-mile race this winter, and if her recent performance at the Crown King Scramble 50K is any indication, she's shaping up to be a force to be reckoned with!

Cruising Up the Hills at the Crown King Scramble

On a typical Saturday, you'd find Courtney, cruising up the hills with an easy stride. But don't be fooled - this "cool cruise" covered almost entirely uphill terrain in Arizona's Sonoran Desert, gaining a staggering 6,828 feet (over 2,000 meters) in just 31-miles. And she tackled it like a seasoned pro, shaving seven minutes off Ida Nilsson's 2019 record with a finishing time of 4:19:49[1].

Stepping into the Footsteps of Legends

It seems like Courtney's taken a page from ultra-running legend Jim Walmsley's book[2]. Just two weeks prior, Walmsley delivered a new record at the Mesquite Canyon 50k, setting the stage for some serious competition. Could these 50k "cruises" just be the perfect warm-up for the greats?

The competition was tough, but Canada's Arden Young came in second, and in the men's side, America's Eric Blake took first in an impressive 4:12:09[1]. If you haven't heard of him before, don't be surprised if you do in the future!

Looking Ahead to the Cocodona 250

With a proven track record of rocking the 100-mile race for the last couple of years, Courtney will be stepping back into her beloved S/Lab Genesis shoes for the Cocodona 250 in early May. This strong-willed athlete has already shown us her worth, and we can't wait to see how she tackles her latest challenge.
