Jair Bolsonaro, the former president of Brazil (2019-2022), is currently hospitalized following an illness that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, he was escorted to the private DF Star clinic in Brasília and arrived dehydrated, with an increase in heart rate and a drop in blood pressure.

While under observation at the clinic, tests have shown a persistence of anemia and alteration of renal function. The former president is also suffering from a kidney issue, as announced by the hospital where he is being treated.

In a separate development, Bolsonaro was sentenced to 27 years in prison by the Supreme Court of Brazil for attempting a coup in 2022. However, his chances of imprisonment are slim as he can only be jailed after exhausting all possible appeals.

In a related health update, it was confirmed that Bolsonaro has been diagnosed with skin cancer, specifically squamous cell carcinoma. The diagnosis was made by his treating doctor, Claudio Birolini, following a biopsy of skin lesions performed on Sunday.

Bolsonaro's eldest son, Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, reported episodes of vomiting and a severe episode of hiccups that left his father without breathing for nearly ten seconds. The former president remains under observation to determine if he should remain hospitalized.

His defense has already announced that it will appeal the conviction for attempting a coup. It is unclear at this time how the ongoing legal proceedings and health issues will affect Bolsonaro's future.
