Brazil and India Strengthen Ties, Aim for $20B Trade by 2030

Brazil and India have strengthened their ties with a series of high-level meetings in New Delhi. The two nations aim to collaborate on agri supply chains, sustainable land use, and global food security. Brazil has praised India's role in the global biofuels alliance and is expediting business visa issuance to boost investments and technology transfer.

The bilateral trade between the two countries reached $12 billion in 2024, with Indian exports rising over 30%. Both nations aim to push this figure to $20 billion by 2030. During the meetings, Brazil's Vice-President and Trade Minister Geraldo Alckmin explored new areas of collaboration across defence, health, and technology.

The two countries are launching a digital partnership focused on artificial intelligence, high-performance computing, and tech start-ups. Brazil invited Indian companies to invest in sectors such as automotive, IT, renewables, clean energy, healthcare, aerospace, and semiconductors. Brazil considers India a priority partner for diversifying exports and investments, with plans to expand its Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) with India and the MERCOSUR bloc to strengthen trade and defence ties.

The Brazilian delegation, including the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change, the Minister of Mines and Energy, and the Minister of Agriculture, discussed strengthening bilateral trade relations, expanding cooperation in renewable energy, climate change initiatives, and agricultural technology exchange. Both nations look forward to further collaboration and growth in their partnership.
